UNIDO organizes regular forums on inclusive and sustainable industrial development (ISID). These forums bring together UNIDO Member States and partners to engage in a dialogue on various aspects of industrial development, and exchange knowledge, experiences and best practices for advancing ISID and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The first such Forum was held in 2014. To date, seven ISID Forums and one advanced session have been organized by UNIDO.
The ISID Forums provide a constructive space for dialogue among Member States and partners, where participants share best practices, identify opportunities for partnerships and joint initiatives to advance ISID and exchange solutions in the UN Decade of Action.
The ISID Forums underscore UNIDO’s expertise in areas such as digitalization, circular economy and environmental sustainability, structural transformation and highlight the importance of a robust industrial sector for achieving sustainable development and the realization of national development goals in Member States.
The ISID Forums are important convening mechanisms that bring together, on a regular basis, government representatives from Member States, partners and stakeholders. They showcase the UNIDO’s contribution to environmentally sound and inclusive strategies aimed at achievement of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and relevant SDGs. The Forums have raised awareness about UNIDO’s sustainable industrialization mandate and concrete achievements on the ground, including through the PCP model as an important tool to achieve ISID.
